Vision Products will be exhibiting display products in Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) and CATI Training Systems (CATI) exhibition booths at the 2024 Army Aviation Mission Solutions Summit in Denver, Colorado, April 24-26, 2024.
In the ASU booth (#1704), Vision Products will have its latest Army Aircrew Augmented Reality Optics and Display System – 62° (A3RO-DS62) on display, along with a demonstration of its SA-62/S optical see through (OST) display eyepiece in conjunction with ASU’s newest E3 Night Vision Goggle (NVG) driven by a smartphone providing the viewer augmentation via symbology and video imagery overlaid with the image intensified view of the real world.
The SA-62/S display eyepiece consists of a wide 62° OST diagonal field of view (FOV) with a high resolution 1920 x 1200 full color OLED microdisplay.
In the CATI booth (#3509), Vision Products will be demonstrating its SA-147/S head mounted display (HMD), displaying graphical imagery to the person wearing the HMD flying a helicopter through a degraded visual environment (DVE).
The SA-147/S HMD consists of four SA-62/S display eyepieces with two optically overlapped SA-62/S display eyepieces resulting in a total display resolution of 3840 x 1200 per eye. The two central eyepieces are 100% overlapped and stereo capable over a 53⁰ horizontal field of view (FOV). The total SA-147/S HMD binocular horizontal FOV is 143⁰ with 5760 x 1200 full color resolution.
The person wearing the SA-147/S HMD will fly a helicopter, via a controller, through a sandstorm environment having the ability of selecting multiple FOVs (e.g., 30⁰ x 20⁰, 40⁰, 62⁰, 92⁰ and 147⁰), demonstrating the importance of improved situational awareness.

About Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU)
Serving first responders and civilian operators for more than 25 years.
Founded in Boise, Idaho by former AH-64 Apache pilot Mike Atwood in 1995, Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) led the way–working with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other agencies to allow unrestricted NVG use among first responders and law enforcement agencies. He served on the RTCA committee that wrote what would become the FAA’s current night-vision operating regulations. That work was completed around 1999. That same year, ASU received Part 135 operational approval from the FAA for night vision installations. These regulations have enabled ASU to support early night vision adopters in the civil market such as Enloe and Mercy Medical Centers as well as the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and have been a passion for Mike Atwood since before ASU’s inception.
