SA-147/S

Augmented Reality Head Mounted Display

Vision Products’ SA-147/S wide field of view augmented reality head mounted display (HMD) provides augmentation via symbology and video imagery over an extremely wide 147° diagonal field of view. The SA-147/S uses four full color organic light-emitting diode (OLED) microdisplays resulting in a 3840 x 1200 full color pixel image per eye.

The SA-147/S HMD utilizes four innovative Vision Products prism eyepieces with minimal peripheral obscuration, so users see an unobstructed view of the real world. The HMD consists of two optically overlapped prisms per eye, resulting in a 98° horizontal field of view per eye with a 100% binocular overlap of 53° horizontal field of view (see diagram).

The SA-147/S was designed to be mounted to either a helmet or a soft-mount using a standard COTS interface mechanism, and can either be used in a fixed base location or in a man portable configuration. (Additional custom mounting configurations are also possible.) In a fixed base location, providing out-the-window video content and symbology, the HMD can be driven from a computer image generator with a minimum of two 3840 x 1200 @ 60 Hz video channels. For a man portable application, the SA‑147/S can be paired with an Vision Products battery-powered backpack computer or Augmented Reality Processor (ARP) with natural scene-based head tracking. The ARP provides lightweight electronics for communication, augmented reality applications and graphics rendering.
